At Montefortuna Cigars, we all agree that one of the best parts of smoking a cigar is the company and environment you do it in. That is why lounges and terraces are the backbone of the cigar industry. This is the reason we have decided to start a series called Where to Smoke. It will tell you the best cigar lounges and terraces around the world where you can enjoy a Habano.

For our first edition of the Where to Smoke Series we have chosen as our first city Madrid, Spain. Which is a city very dear to us here at Montefortuna. As well as being the hometown of many of our staff! Where can you smoke cigars in Madrid? Our recommendation today will be Fortuny Restaurant and Club.

Fortuny Restaurant & Club

Fortuny is an institution in Madrid, and has been around for as long as most Madrileños can remember. It is located in an old 19th century palace and boasts 3 floors of entertainment. Including two restaurants on the top floor, a VIP section and the main dance floor on the ground level. Aditionally, its crown jewel is their lush garden where you can dine, as well as dance up until the wee hours of the morning.

On the top floor you will find the main restaurant. Which specializes in Spanish fine dining with an international twist. After 12 am, once dinner is over it also turns into a club and offers house tunes. Great place to have dinner and enjoy a drink while you show off your moves at the top floor of the palace. The views during the night are just stunning.

Going down the spiraled stairs you will reach the first floor. On this floor, there is a second restaurant which serves sushi, caviar and champagne. Not too shabby! Once dinner is over this turns as well into a club, with two VIP sections, a large bar and two terraces overlooking the grounds of the Fortuny palace. These two terraces are always very packed but are great for a short smoke and a nice conversation.

Finally on the ground floor you will find the main dancing area, with an elevated Dj both, another large bar as well as the main VIP section. This ground floor also accesses the large gardens, which are the main attraction of Fortuny.

In this blog post we will focus on their gardens, which is where their cigars are offered and enjoyed. You may smoke cigars with a nice drink in the afternoon. Have an after dinner cigar or enjoy a Cohiba Talisman at 4 in the morning, as you dance to the beats of the hottest DJ’s in town.

It is really a magnificent place to smoke a cigar at any time in Madrid.

Eventhough their humidor is small, their selection is surprisingly good and varied. Available at Fortuny Restaurant and Club you will find anything from the Romeo Y Julietas Cedros Deluxe to the exclusive  Cohiba Talismán or the Partagás Serie N1 2017 limited edition. Aditionally they have loads of LCDH exclusives as well as a large selection of Cohibas and Montecristos, including the hard to find Linea 1935.

You may find Fortuny at: Calle Fortuny 34 in the Chamberi district of Madrid. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 13:30 for lunch and remains open for afternoon drinks, dinner and partying up until 5:00 in the morning!
