1 review for Joya de Nicaragua Robusto & Toro Sampler

    1. Nathan Orrell (verified owner)

To all who will bother to read my personal review, I invite you to consider my subjective, but also objective review.

I cannot commend Monte Forutna Cigars enough for their excellent supply and surplus of wonderful stock. In my very short acquisition of cigars through them, I have been nothing short of impressed with their delivery and selection on offer.

Upon choosing from their range of more modestly priced cigars, i.e. Comacho (wonderful), Olivia (excellent), I have only this critique.

The Joya sampler has much to be lusted after, to express my subjective review,( if one could also say, objective).

The Joya Cabinetta itself is a very mild and at it’s best “Laymans” under whelming smoke.
The robusto has some more prominent flavours due to the shorter vitola. That in itself is being generous.

The Joya Black is also quite mild for being marketed as a more “Full bodied to medium” cigar. In no way any fault of Monte Fortuna, the Black has much to be delivered in the flavour, both in the the Robusto and Toro vitolas. Disappointing is solely a personal rating on these sticks.

The Joya Red however both in Robusto and Toro Vitola, are very much poorly constructed, i.e. a soft vacuumous feel, with the stick sinking in on itself within a few draws after properly lighting. The ligero has been rolled completely tone side causing the burn to be nothing bimut disateroua. The seco is so poorly packed that the stick becomes a soft sponge. This soft sponge greatly effects the the flavour and the experience you will encounter. It is more than disappointing!. The cigar implodes on itself and becomes a sodden bog of soft, warm, mash texture. For any lover of cigars, this is nothing short of a disaster. The craftsmanship of fellow New world producers such as Plasencia, Oliva, deliver an astounding product for the price. Their product embodies richness, strength, outstanding construction and beauty in a price range that forces a divide into the production of immaculately made Cohibas,( for example).

If you want to take the gamble on a cheap smoke and invest in a few Joya De Nicaragua, then I suggest you reconsider. Part with that little extra and give Monte Fortuna more of your well earned income. Purchase the premium to mid priced cigars and enjoy a deligtful and excellent smoke that the new world producers have to offer.

      Post Script,

      Dear Monte Fortuna Cigars,
If it would be possible for yourselves to start to resupply Plasencia Alma Fuerte Cigars again, you will most certainly have more and more of my business. As an avid smoker of Bolivar and also my beloved Plasencia, not only myself but many more lovers of fine New world /Cuban cigars will flock to your business with great enthusiasm.

      With the kindest regards,
      Nathan.
