Habanos-world-days-cigars-2021

Habanos announced the launch of several new cigars during its latest event hosted in Cuba. The interesting thing that many cigar aficionados noticed was the thicker ring gauge. The smallest ring gauge was 52 and this was for a cigar that some could describe as a robusto.

As many cigar smokers will know, Cuba has been leaning more towards producing thicker cigars. For some this is great news, however, for others, this could be disappointing especially if you enjoy Especials and Lanceros. Nonetheless, let’s get into all the newest cigars that have been announced from Cuba.

Cohiba Ideales

Brand Name: Cohiba
Market Name: Ideales
Factory Name: Modernas
Ring Gauge: 56
Length: 175mm

Starting off with the largest cigar that was announced at the Habanos event we have the Cohiba Ideales. With a length of 175mm and an impressive ring gauge, the Cohiba Ideales is one of the largest Cohiba cigars ever produced. Although this cigar is not currently a regular production cigar its impressive size and presentation is still something to behold. The length of this cigar makes it ever so slightly longer than the Cohiba Behike 56, but with the same ring gauge.

In terms of presentation, this is described as a special serie collection and will arrive in a book-like cigar box. Of course, this also means it is likely to come with an eye-watering price tag.

Cohiba 55 Aniversario Limited Edition 2021

Brand Name: Cohiba
Market Name: 55 Aniversario
Factory Name: Victoria
Ring Gauge: 57
Length: 150mm

Continuing with the trend of big cigars, the Cohiba 55 Aniversario is another new heavy ring gauge cigar. The length of this cigar is the same as the Hoyo De Monterrey San Juan except the 55 Aniversario has a noticeably thicker ring gauge.

Unlike the Cohiba Ideales, the 55 Aniversario is a limited edition cigar as well as an anniversary edition. Despite this, it is likely that the Ideales is going to be the more expensive option. The Cohiba EL 2021 is probably going to be released with a price point that’s similar to the Cohiba Talisman

Cohiba Ambar

Brand Name: Cohiba
Market Name: Ambar
Factory Name: Placeres
Ring Gauge: 53
Length: 132mm

This is the cigar that we find most interesting. It is essentially a thicker Robusto cigar and considering how good that standard Robusto is, the Ambar could end up being pretty special.

The standard Cohiba Robusto currently has a price point which sits around £30.00 each. This does make it one of the most expensive Robusto-sized cigars on the market. Based on this, we’re likely to see the Cohiba Ambar arrive with a price point closer to £40.00.

Of course, this is entirely speculation, and no pricing information has been confirmed. Nonetheless, the Cohiba Ambar is probably going to be a popular cigar among many aficionados.

Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 Limited Edition 2021

Brand Name: Hoyo de Monterrey
Market Name: Monterreyes No.4 Limited Edition 2021
Factory Name: Maravillas No. 4
Ring Gauge: 55
Length: 145

The last time we saw a proper Edición Limitada from Hoyo De Monterrey it was all the way back in 2013 with the Grand Epicure. It’s great to see another new one joins the ranks and once again, a pretty large cigar. The Monterreyes No. 4 is a pretty hefty cigar coming in larger than even the Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan. It’s likely this cigar will arrive with a price point that’s slightly higher than the Hoyo de Monterrey Rico de Seco. This potentially makes it one of the more expensive new limited editions to hit the market, especially when compared to previous limited editions from Bolivar and Romeo y Julieta.

Partagas Serie E No. 2 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2015

Brand Name: Partagas
Market Name: Partagas Serie E No. 2 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2015
Factory Name: Duke
Ring Gauge: 54
Length: 140

The Partagas Serie E No. 2 Gran Reserva Cosecha 2015 will be limited to 5000 boxes only. This means that even though the Partagas Serie E No.2 cigar isn’t an incredibly popular heavy ring gauge cigar, it could still demand a hefty price. This will likely inflate further as stock for this cigar dwindles. If you’re a collector with a comfortable budget, this cigar could be a great opportunity.

Montecristo Wide Edmundo

Brand Name: Montecristo
Market Name: Wide Edmundo
Factory Name: Duke No. 3
Ring Gauge: 54
Length: 125mm

The Montecristo Wide Edmundo seems to be taking inspiration from the very popular Romeo y Julietta Churchill Wide cigar. The Wide Edmundo is slightly smaller and thinner, however, the differences aren’t significant.

The extra yellow band on this cigar seems to be a first for Montecristo and will definitely make it stand out in stores and humidors. The cigar is due to be a new addition to the standard line of cigars. It will arrive in boxes of 10, 25 and also aluminum tubes.

Bolivar Regentes Limited Edition 2021

Brand Name: Bolivar
Market Name: Regentes
Factory Name: Discretos
Ring Gauge: 52
Length: 130

Just in case the Bolivar Soberanos was too long ago for you, Habanos has announced a new limited edition Bolivar cigar. This time it’s another Robusto-type cigar, albeit with a slightly thicker ring gauge. The smaller stature of this cigar will likely put it at a more reasonable price point. Although, with Habanos, it’s never easy to judge the price of a cigar before it’s released. Either way, this could be a great new addition.
