With the incorporation of the Quai D’Orsay 50 and Quai D’Orsay 54, the Quai D’Orsasy Coronas Claros are the only original vitola left. However, this doesn’t make them easy to find!

Let’s Start from the Beginning- The Brand

Quai D’Orsay might have well been of the most niche brands in the Habanos portfolio. Starting in 1973, when France’s Minister of Finances Valéry Giscard d’Estaing requested Cubatabaco for a French cigar to be made. This brand would be called Quai D’Orsay after the location of the tobacco office bordering the Seine. A pecularity of this brand is that it is the only one in the Habanos portfolio to be requested by a specific country to be made.

This doesn’t mean however, that the brand is distributes exclusively in France. It does have a great part of it’s target audience there, with quite a few regional editions to prove it, but is distributed worldwide.

Steadily the brand continues it’s growth until, in February 2015, Habanos decides to leave the brand with the original vitola: the Coronas Claros. This would change with the incorporation of the Quai D’Orsay 50 and 54.

In the last few years though, Habanos has tried to actively promote the brand. The launch of their own Limited Edition: Quai D’Orsay Senadores is a clear example of this. The push from Habanos combined with their great quality has created a surge in the brand in the latest years.

The Quai D’Orsay Coronas Claro

The Quai D’Orsay Coronas Claro comes in a dressbox of 25 cigars. It has a length of 142 mm , a ring gauge of 42 and a Corona vitola. With a colorado wrapper, a light to medium strength and creamy aroma, this cigar is a clear representative of the Quai D’Orsay brand.

All the tobacco this cigar contains is long filler and comes from Vuelta Abajo, which provides its characteristic flavor. The smoking time is 50, which makes it great for beginners in the Cuban Cigar world.
